Get Bookish on the Beach

Oh my it is hot! On my drive to work this morning my car said it was 22 degrees and rising. It is now 3pm and my trusted iphone is registering a piping 34 degrees on Burford High Street! Luckily it is beautifully cool in Madhatters and my mind is drifting off to my favourite Cornish beach where the Atlantic water is a perfect turquoise and feels like icey cool silk on entry. Apart from marmite sandwiches and salt & vinegar crisps the only other thing you need to make this the perfect dream of an afternoon is a rollicking good read.

So here are a few paperbacks to pile into your bag along with your bathers and the picnic....the sandwiches will invariably end up squished under the books but who cares!

The Most Fun We Ever had by Claire Lombardo

The Lost Love Song by Minnie Darke

The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak

Ma'am Darling by Craig Brown

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Manhatten Beach by Jennifer Egan

The Sleepwalker by Joseph Knox

Deep Start by Chris Hauty

Saturday Lunch with The Brownings

Everything Under by Daisy Johnson

and no Summer reading list would be complete without Too Much and Never Enough by Mary L Trump...only in hardback but well worth the lug down the path to the sea!

Of Course it will probably rain tomorrow but you will still need a good book!

As always you can order or reserve at kim@madhatterbookshop.co.uk
